Helping remote communities and the pets we love
Rescue In order to help the pets in remote communities we post their photos here to help connect them to families having a hard time finding the right pet locally. We ask your assistance in sharing information for flight volunteers travelling to Winnipeg and would be willing to add a pet onto their ticket so we can get them to Victoria. Donations are of course needed to get these animals out of the cold and into loving homes. You can donate to get a specific pet flown in or make a general donation that will go towards the next pet ready and waiting. If you would like to make a donation towards the Manitoba Transport Fund please specify when you send in the donation.
Rehab Animals coming in will need some time to settle in and show us who they really are. This is a great time to get to know a pet to make sure they are a good fit for your family. Animals in foster care will be supplied vet care, food and supplies that are required. Some families choose to supply food which is fine as well. Foster homes spend the time crate training, leash walking, housebreaking and some other basic training as required. Foster families are not expected to deal with any major behaviour issues outside of their comfort zone. Any animal showing any dangerous behaviour would be removed from the foster home immediately, the safety of our volunteers and their families are always our top priority.
Rehome Foster homes always get first right to adopt the pet they are fostering. The only exception to this would be if we knew the pet was not a suitable adoption for the household. We do want all our adopters and adoptees to have the best possible lives together. All animals are required to be spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, deflead and wormed (covered by rescue) and an adoption fee paid at the time of adoption.
